Furry Friday

Have I ever mentioned Bella's love for food?
Oh, just about a hundred times? Is that all?
Here she is trying to get at a piece of rogue kibble under our television stand.
Bella's not clever enough to get all the way down on her belly.
That piece of kibble is still there.
A reminder that she should stop playing with her food.

I've been so lucky to love and be loved by my amazing husband, friends, family and little yellow dog. Life is good.

Doggy Swim Day

Hurray! There was another doggy swim day! Daddy was able to join us this year and mama didn't have to be so lonely like she was last time.

I wasn't too excited to go in the pool even though I love to swim with my pops.

I'm outie!

I would much rather just look at the cold water, thanks.

I might take a quick sniff with my friend, Brutus.

But I would much rather run around like a mad dog and explore.

And get some lovin' from daddy.

Whee! Look at how fast I can run!

And run and run!

And run some more!

Gee, am I a happy dog!

Phew! I'm tired from all that fun. Let's go home!

Five Things

1. Coolest dad ever sends his son's toy train on a space trip.

2. My favorite Etsy seller, Kate Thomas of Little Things Studio, has a new site of curated quotes. She always has the best sayings on her prints. Now, they're all in one mustard yellow place. Also, how gorgeous is her laptop skin design?

3. One of my early projects was featured on Apartment Therapy awhile back. If I had known it would get some attention I would have tried to take pictures without the television in the background.

4. My mom is in Europe right now. Europe! I'm really happy for her and she has been updating my sister and I with random texts. One day she texted my sister and I three separate pictures of the Eiffel Tower, all at a similar angle, just a different distance. Her caption read: "It is worth to come. I hope we can visit together next time. I really enjoy."

Another text said, "I am in the Swiss. Do you need watch? What kind/color?" I asked her for chocolate.

5. I have fallen in love with the band Monsters Calling Home ever since seeing them on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Honda surprised them with a gig on Jimmy and gave them their big break. I hope I get a chance to see them live one day.

Furry Friday

I took some old pillows from our closet and made Bella another dog bed. Before I even sewed a cover for it, she climbed on top of it and settled on it immediately. How did she know that was just for her?

Be So Happy

Source: via Min on Pinterest

Every now and then we'll have patients or parents come into our office and ask us, "What are you guys drinking? Can I get some of that?"I literally signed something called The Happiness Pledge when I got hired where I promised to leave any troubles behind. Can everyone take a happiness pledge?

Texas Forever

A few pictures from our Labor Day weekend:

A photo shoot in front of the famous postcard mural painted on the side of Roadhouse Relics on 1st Street.

Pre-dinner dessert at our favorite bakery, Sugar Mama's Bakeshop.

An early dinner at Bess Bistro. My pork ribs were the hands-down favorite.

An adventurous and very hot morning zip lining across Lake Travis.

After a long nap, I made us a delicious dinner: slow cooker pulled pork sandwiches, roasted vegetables, and Nana's recipe for mac n' cheese.

Double kayaks through Zilker Park.

5 Things

1) I'm slowly losing my mind. Evidence of this:

a) During my lunch break, I hurried home to let Bella out to potty. I knew I only had ten minutes to spend at home before driving back to work. I pulled into the driveway and was frustrated that the garage opener was not working. I parked my car and ran out to put in the security code for the garage, only to find that it was no longer there. I then realized that I had pulled into the wrong street and was at the wrong house. I hope nobody saw me.
b) I grabbed conditioner instead of shampoo and tempura batter instead of panko breadcrumbs at the grocery store.
c) I completely forgot to go to my morning meeting yesterday at work. Luckily, no one seemed to mind.

2) Neither Hubby nor I had time to let Bella out today during lunch. We fully expected to find the house in disarray, but I came home to find that everything was still intact and that Bella did not have any accidents in the house. I can't express how proud I am of this!

Also, what does it mean when people automatically share the Dogshaming tumblr with me when they first discover it. Oh, wait. They must have seen these posts.

3) The tumblr Marry My Asian Daughter reminds me how fortunate I am to be happily married already.

4) Obama's campaign team is really reaching the youth and their focus on minorities and women has really hit me. Plus, how good was my favorite First Lady at the Democratic National Convention? I loved Bill Clinton's quote on how he wants to marry "a man who had the good sense to marry Michelle Obama."

In order to make sure I wasn't completely biased, I took a quiz on the site, which shows you which candidate you side with based on what you think of important issues. It also opened conversation between Hubby and I about politics, something we've never really got into before.

5) Hubby and I just watched the finale for one of our favorite reality shows, Master Chef. In the end, a blind Vietnamese woman named Christine Ha won the title. Listen to her NPR interview here and be inspired.

P.S. Is it strange that Hubby and I automatically root for Asians on reality shows? However, when it comes to the Olympics, it's AMERICA ALL THE WAY!

Shine Like Sunbeams

One of my favorite things about my new job is that I am forced to be cheery all day long. A bad attitude is not allowed in the office. Happiness has a way of spreading like wildfire.

Good morning!
Have a great day!

Furry Friday

My sister and her boyfriend came to visit us in Texas over the holiday weekend, but they left Riley at home. They found out the day before their trip that "Riley is a woman now," meaning that her caretaker for the five days had to change her in and out of doggy diapers.

Riley was not amused, especially because the diapers were too loose and had to be held together with packaging tape. Poor The Riley.

P.S. Don't worry, we're responsible dog owners and Riley is going to get spayed ASAP now that she's old enough.

Onto Better Things

Today was my second official day at my new job as a front desk receptionist at a local office. Although yesterday started a little rocky, today was really wonderful and I am enjoying it quite a bit. I don't deal with rude teenagers like I did when I was a substitute teacher and while my new job challenges me, I don't feel stressed at all.

It's truly a wonderful environment to work in where every single person is cheerful and unbelievably patient. We start the mornings with an "Awesome Report" where we share great work by other people and we end our meetings with a huddle.

The best part of it all is that I get to wear scrubs to work, which is basically like being in your pajamas all the time.

Hubby has been super supportive while I've been getting my body accustomed to working full shifts again. Even though I'm seated for most of the entire eight hours, I've been leaving work with aches all over. He hasn't let me cook or touch the dirty dishes at all. How lucky am I?
